In 1971, Steve Miller, a nurse, saw the need for an organization for men in nursing and formed a group of like-minded men in Michigan.  The group, known as the American Assembly for Men in Nursing (AAMN) now has a membership in the thousands and has been instrumental in advancing nursing as a profession for men.
